FSC® provides Chain of Custody standards for manufacturers, processors of forest products. FSC® Certified forests are managed to strict environmental, social, and economic standards.
FSC® Chain of custody certification verifies that FSC®-certified material has been identified and separated from non-certified and uncontrolled material as it makes it way along the supply chain, from forest to the market.
The FSC® logo and label is used by Big K to denote that the product is sourced from FSC® certified suppliers, and can be tracked through the production process.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is a global alliance of national forest certification systems that promotes responsible forest management through independent third-party certification.
PEFC was established in 1999 in response to the specific requirements of small- and family forest owners as an international umbrella organisation providing independent assessment, endorsement and recognition of national forest certification systems. It has since then grown to become the world’s largest forest certification system.

The government's department for environment, food and rural affairs (DEFRA) appointed HETAS and Woodsure to run the Ready to Burn fuel Certification scheme.
The scheme makes it easy for customers to find the cleanest fuels for burning at home. Using fuels that are approved and labelled as ready to burn also means it’s easy to comply with Air Quality (Domestic sold fuels standards) regulations 2020 that outlaws the sale of wet wood and house coal which are the most polluting fuels.
HETAS – HETAS is the only specialist organisation approving biomass and solid fuel heating appliances, fuels and services. To be authorised for the use in a UK smoke control areas our fuels must have an average smoke emission of less than 5 grams per hour when tested to the standard (BS3841) and contain less than 2% sulphur (by dry weight with 95% confidence limit).
Woodsure - Woodsure is a not-for-profit organisation, striving to raise the quality of wood fuel in the industry. The Woodsure certification scheme and its logo shows wood fuel users the suppliers and products that they can trust. The Woodsure Ready To Burn Scheme is the UK’s only quality certification scheme that differentiates us as a responsible, trustworthy fuel supplier. It is available to wood log suppliers who can demonstrate to Woodsure their ready to burn logs have a moisture content consistently below 20% and they have been tested by Woodsure to ensure this is true. Woodsure certified suppliers are your guarantee of reliable, high-quality wood fuels.

It is the only certification scheme that provides assurance of homegrown timber and timber products from the UK. A key element of Grown in Britain’s ambition is to increase the number of existing forests and woodlands which are actively managed to a recognised forest management standard to create a healthier future for our forests and woodlands.
