Au Natural FSC® Certified is a 100% natural compressed briquette charcoal. We make it without binders, so there are no nasty chemicals to spoil the flavour of your cooking. It’s compressed from waste saw dust and wood chips at high pressures to create moulded hexagonal tubes that are consistently sized and shaped, meaning they’re easy to handle and burn cleanly. These tubes have a central hole to aid air flow, which ensures they burn evenly across your barbecue, with no hot or cold spots to manage.
With a cooking time of up to 3 hours, Au Natural FSC® is dependable and long-lasting. It’s best used in combination with our Chilla-Grilla lumpwood charcoal as a lighting aid. Au Natural FSC® is used to power professional grills across the country, but it’s also popular among adventurous home barbecuers.
If you’re looking to keep your BBQ clean and full of flavour, Au Natural FSC® is perfect for the purists.
Please note all cooking times are approximate and depend on a range of factors, including quantity of charcoal and type of barbecue used, lighting method and weather conditions.
I used this (together with the Chilla-Grilla charcoal as recommended) in a Weber Smokey Mountain to do belly pork and chicken thighs and wings for a party. It was brilliant. I filled the charcoal bowl, positioning the briquettes as the spokes of a wheel and the Chilla-Grilla to infill between the spokes. I put the burning coals from the chimney in the centre (like the hub of the wheel). It kept the smoker at 110-125C without top-up, for 11hrs. I checked the smoker at 12hrs (just before going to bed) and it was still 100C. I did have to choke it off a couple of time buy closing the top vent. Need to keep the water bowl topped-up.
I also used the same combination in two kettles, one set up for direct-heat, the other indirect heat. Brilliant. But you do need to give it time to get going – don’t expect to rush the job. We ignored the direct heat kettle for a while and it went to over 300C about 90 minutes after being lit.
Terrific fuel. Clean burn, exceptionally hot and no nasty chemicals. The stamina isn’t as long as RCB10, but still a great long lasting fuel offering great results in the Cobb oven.
fantastic product I been using these for my smoker give a good consistent temperature and last a good amount of time would be nice if they had the apple wood ones again
This was the first time using the lumpwood briquette charcoal. Took longer to light, but once lite came up to temp nicely and maintained it nicely with longer burn time. Saved using a lot of charcoal smoking a brisket for 11hrs.

Love these with the charcoal, they work and cook well together, for me they’re a cut above the rest. Nice products
Very pleased with the speed of delivery and the quality of the product. I mixed it with flama that Big K just to make it go a bit further. I had bought some other so called restaurant grade charcoal though Amazon and it was awful. I will definitely be coming directly to the manufacturer in future. Would definitely recommend and buy this again.
Love this stuff. Great alternative to briquettes. Burns hot and long. I like to use a mix of this and lumpwood when grilling as this can take a bit longer to ignite and get going, but once it does, it lasts for ages. Applewood gives off a nice mild smoke.
I’ve used the non Applewood version of this product before and found them to burn long, hot and clean.
The same can be said for these Applewood compressed briquettes.
They are a hexagonal tube shape with a hole that runs through the middle. This means that they burn from the inside and out, providing a consistent heat source.
RCB10A is a clean fuel sourced from coppiced apple trees.
It’s very hot, fires up swiftly and has a pleasant smell whilst firing up.
As it’s not as compressed as RCB10, it doesn’t have the same stamina, which makes it better for shorter, very hot cooks in the Cobb oven.
In my opinion, this is a luxurious fuel.
It can be extinguished by stifling and used again if you’ve finished cooking and it hasn’t burnt out.
RCB10A is a lovely fuel. Expensive outlay, but it is a luxurious fuel.
It’s a super fuel for very hot cooks in the Cobb Oven models.
This is perfect for long slow cooking in weber or egg style bbq. So much nicer than other chemical briquettes with it’s smoky flavour and all natural. Took a couple of goes to figure out best way to use but will be our regular option alongside natural version and big k lumpwood which is also good.
Service and delivery from BigK was great too.
There is no comparison between this and standard briquettes. Burns slowly and evenly for close to 4 hours. Perfect for smoking. It also doesn’t give off any acrid smoke or soot meaning your food smells and tastes of the wood you’re smoking with. Comes neatly packed and stacked in its box. Perfect for those with OCD
There are two methods to lighting Au Natural FSC®:
Method 1: Using Chilla Grilla Create a base of charcoal using Chilla-Grilla lumpwood charcoal, add 3-4 Big K firelighters and light. Once the firelighters are burning, cover with additional charcoal to make a pyramid. This allows the flames to rise up from the bottom, heating the coals quickly and evenly.
After approximately 30 minutes, spread the coals out and add Au Natural on top. Wait for a further 10-15 minutes and you're ready to start cooking.
Method 2: Without Chilla Grilla
Create a base of Au Natural briquettes, add 5+ Big K Firelighters and light. Once the firelighters are burning, cover with additional charcoal to make a pyramid. This allows the flames to rise up from the bottom, heating the coals quickly and evenly.
After approximately 30 minutes, spread the briquettes out. Then, simply wait another 10 minutes and you're ready to start cooking.
Free next day delivery on orders over £30 (inc. VAT). For order values less than £30 a delivery charge of £8 applies. Exclusions apply outside of mainland UK, click here for more details on surcharges. Deliveries are made by APC or DPD.
